WildCamp - Backpacking, Fellwalking and Camping on the British Hills

Wild Camping near Red Tarn, with Crinkle Crags beyond

Welcome to WildCamp - dedicated to backpacking, camping and walking on the British hills.  The main purpose of the site is to keep me busy when I can't get out onto the hills, where I'd much rather be right now. The site is divided into three main sections:

Wild Camping - The art of camping in the mountains, where one can wake to the sound of a waterfall, and have breakfast whilst looking down upon a sea of clouds.

The Lake District Fells - This section has almost grown into a site within a site. It features a database of most of the Lakeland Fells. For convenience, it is divided into seven regions, essentially based on the seven famous guidebooks by AW Wainwright.
(I hope ultimately to have sections on other mountain areas of Britain).

Trip Reports - Describes in more detail some of the walks I've made. They're not meant to be route guides, they're more a diary of personal observations and experiences. There's as much emphasis on the places I camped as the routes themselves.

What's New:  Regular visitors will know that these pages have hardly been updated in over a year, mainly due to other commitments.  However, I've managed to find the time to make a few trips onto the fells and hope to start adding new material again over the Winter months.
