SELSIDE PIKE
Height: 2149', (655m)
Grid Ref: NY 491112

The Northern flank of the fell descends to the Old Corpse Road, which links the valley of Mardale with Shap. Where the road descends to Haweswater, there are some ruined cottages which feature quite prominently in the film Withnail And I, though in the context of the plot, the characters would have to be making 20 mile trips to the pub, (not unreasonable, I suppose). There is also a scene in one of the BBC2 Wainwright documentaries where AW sits at this spot and talks about the High Street range, seen over the reservoir.

TARN CRAG
Height: 2178', (664m)
Grid Ref: NY 488078

The name Tarn Crag probably refers to Greycrag Tarn, situated in the col which links the fell to Grey Crag. Connoisseurs of fine tarns will be disappointed, however, as it is in reality a dreary patch of marshland.

About a hundred yards west of the small summit cairn stands an old survey column, built in the twenties by water board engineers surveying Longsleddale. Wainwright depicts the column surrounded by a wooden platform. This has since disappeared, though the original stone structure still survives.

Note: There is another Tarn Crag in the Central Fells

THORNTHWAITE CRAG
Height: 2572' (784m)
Grid Ref: NY 432100

The summit of Thorhthwaite Crag is recognisable from miles around due to its 14' column cairn which stands on a natural rock plinth on the highest ground of the fell.

WANSFELL
Height: 1597', (487m)
Grid Ref: NY 404053

Wansfell rises above Ambleside and offers an easy fell walk from the town. There are two summits, the northerly being the higher. The southern summit is the finer of the two, and is named Wansfell Pike 1588' (484m).
